Lana Del Rey's Facebook Page Review

Looking at this Facebook page, the first thing that we see is the use of colours. Gold and bronze tones stand out, which connotes a rich and bold image that Lana is portraying. We also see that the texts that stand out the most are telling us to 'Sign up' and 'listen now'. This is effective as we see Lana as a beautiful idol in the centre, and this will make people want to like her as she looks important. There is also something that helps her popularity, the number of likes and amount of people talking about the page under the blue tick. This although understated, is vital for her popularity, as her target audience are primarily teens on social medias such as Facebook, and therefore want to be involved with things that are popular and liked by the majority of their piers. The profile photo also makes us draw our focus onto it, as the rest of the mise on scene is neutral colours, yet the profile picture is bright red, blue, and white which is bold and vibrant. This is also showing Lana off to be a proud American therefore she is showing off her nation in her music, which is popular with fans of America or residents of America as they want to like all things American. In the text box we see a small advertising area of where you can buy her latest music, this is to direct the interest of the cover photo, making sure that any urge a person has to buy the album and see what the hype is about, will do it when seeing this box when scrolling down instead of forgetting about it. For our page we should make this clear that we are promoting 'Morning Blues' with a link straight underneath it to direct the audience to where they can buy the song. This will efficiently maximise the single sales. We should also make the profile picture stand out from the rest of the page by using colours to highlight her, and her importance. This could be done by using golds and bronzes. However, I feel this might not be as effective as Lana has already got a fan base, showing she is long lasting and this isn't new fame, where as Rosie is new on the music scene so will need all her advertising to be bold and eye catching to ensure she doesn't blend in in the background.
I found this photo of Rosie which is exactly what I think would make her stand out.

This photo is perfect as the Roses not only promotes her name, but also England and the 'English rose' which is like what Lana has done. The use of green also makes her stand out, and shows the rolling English country side, and nature, which also shows Rosie as a very earthy and natural artist and not fake and conforming to the 'Plastic pop' image.
